Jeff Johnston

Hey Class of '88,
They say that you could not find me when you were planning the reunion. Who would of thunk to look at our Alma Mater (sp??). Hey, no biggie, I had a really busy summer that year and probably would not have been able to make it any way. I got a lot of great updates from Holly when she came for Brad's graduation. We had the privilege of being Brad's "parents" for one semester. It was a great experience and our kids loved him.  I am now going on my fifth year of marriage to a beautiful woman named Robin, whom I met through my cousin while going to college at Missouri Southern State College. (BTW: Doug, I met a cousin of yours while doing my student teaching in Joplin, Missouri. A Mrs. Beck who teaches music at an elementary school.) I now have three kids ages 3 - Emilee (adopted); 2 going on three - Danae; and 7 months - Kyle; and now have one on the way, due April 1st, 2000. I am working towards having my own soccer team. ;-{)> (this is me smiling) We got married and then came to Taiwan a month later and have been here since. We are planning to stop in England this summer on our way to the U.S., so Robin's friends in England can meet the Fam. We will also celebrate our 5th anniversary in London.

We just moved into a row house, one of those houses that are four stories with a basement. We had to move because we did not feel safe having three, going on four, kids and living in a three story penthouse which started on the 10th floor. We got quite a rocking from the 9/21 earthquake.

Soccer season just ended (bitter sweet feelings about it). I hate for the season to end, but I was ready for a break. I am really going to miss the Seniors next year, not just in skills, but also in what they brought to this team. This was truly a unique and outstanding team. We ended the season with 8 wins, 2 losses and 3 ties. We tied for the trophy (as you have already heard from Dan Robinson). We took 2nd in the Morrison Invitational Soccer Tournament, losing only to Faith Academy, Manila, 1-0. We have yet to beat that team, although we have tied them twice. Nathan McGill was our captain and he was one of the most outstanding captains I have had at four years at Morrsion.

Yes, can you believe that I have been at Morrison for three, going on four, years. I have really enjoyed my job working with the Elementary and Middle school. I am the EMS Physical Education teacher as well as EMS Athletic Director. It has had its ups and downs and there are times when I feel pretty bogged down with responsibilities, especially in the area of A.D. But it all evens out. And hey, I get a two-and-a-half month paid vacation as well as weekends and other holidays. How bad can it get. And if you really sit down and think about it, I get paid to PLAY!!! You could say I am a "professional athlete" (hahahahaha).

Music is still a part of me, although not quite as much since high school. I have been in several bands while in college playing both keyboard and bass and doing some vocals. I was in a band called "Freedom" with Mark Heffner, Dan Long and Colin Aitken, but one by one, they returned to the U.S. and U.K. Now I am working with the Middle school chapel on Fridays, as well as leading worship at Community Church of Taichung (the old TCC) once a month. Mostly however, I just run the sound for church as well as other various events at Morrison.

Blah,.Blah, Blah, Blah Better stop now. I attached some pictures of the Fam.

Good to read your letters and catch up.
Later,
Jeff
